Employment Law Fees

At ELP we have always represented a broad range of employment law clients. Our clients range from executive directors to part-time shop workers, from professional services companies to small charities. We want to be able to help anyone who has an employment law issue, or who wants to take steps to avoid having one in the future. To allow this we operate a unique, flexible and fair fee structure which is designed to allow all kinds of clients access to expert employment law advice at any stage. The options that we offer include:

For Employees:

• A detailed initial advice meeting followed by our written opinion on the best way forward, for £310 plus VAT;
• Fixed fees for specific pieces of work eg writing a grievance letter, advising on a disciplinary process, writing to an employer regarding severance, raising an Employment Tribunal claim, dealing with Employment Tribunal Orders, representation at an Employment Tribunal hearing etc.
• Discounted Employment Law Packages for cases which are unpredictable and ongoing. We offer 5 hour packages at £860 plus VAT, up to 10 hour packages at £1,610 plus VAT, and up to 20 hour packages at £3,000 plus VAT, giving real value for money compared to standard hourly rates;
• In Settlement Agreement cases where the matter is straightforward we seek to ensure that our client pays no more than the employer’s contribution to legal fees where the employer is making a normal contribution, and in negotiation cases we will advise our clients realistically on when it is worth spending additional money on legal fees, using the benefit of our many years of experience.
• Following the initial stages of some cases we are able to offer “no win no fee” arrangements. We do not do this lightly, we do not offer this in all cases, and we do not take the approach of running claims just for the sake of it. But if we believe that your claim is reasonable and has decent prospects of success, we are willing to go forward with you on a team basis.

For Employers:

• Our no-obligation Employment Law Healthcheck – we can meet you to discuss your current employment situation, the contracts and policies that you currently have in place, and any current employment law issues that you have. We will tell you if we can help, and how we would do that, and you can decide if you would like us to help you going forward. There is no charge for this meeting, and we bet that you will leave the meeting having learned something useful…….at the very least;
• Fixed fees for drafting employment contracts and employment policies;
• Fixed fees for advising on specific issues eg disciplinary issues, dismissals, settlement agreements, employee grievances and complaints, flexible working applications, restructuring, redundancies, transfers of undertakings (TUPE);
• Fixed fees for different stages of Employment Tribunal proceedings;
• Discounted Employment Law Packages for cases which are unpredictable and ongoing. We offer 5 hour packages at £860 plus VAT, up to 10 hour packages at £1,610 plus VAT, and up to 20 hour packages at £3,000 plus VAT, giving real value for money compared to standard hourly rates;
• For employers who wish to pay a monthly retainer for our ongoing employment law support we are also willing to agree something reasonable. However, this is only for employers who are particularly keen on a fixed budget. We are aware that many employers feel that they have been overcharged in the past for retainer and insurance backed schemes. This is not how we operate. We provide expert employment law advice, not an insurance product. We are happy for our clients to decide what level of advice they need, however much or little.
